What Is Maternal-Fetal Medicine

Maternal-Fetal Medicine is a subspecialty of obstetrics that focuses on the diagnosis, patient counseling, and providing management guidelines to both the expectant mothers and their referring provider. Maternal-fetal medicine physicians, are also called Perinatologists, we are trained obstetricians who are board certified, who have undergone years of additional specialized training in fetal diagnosis and managing the many complications of pregnancy.

We work with your referring provider and who often seek guidance, our assessment and recommendations to coordinate and maximized a health pregnancy outcome. To ensure a healthy pregnancy outcome, your pregnancy concerns may require multiple assessments to monitor your pregnancy course. At the same time, you will continue with your appointments with your obstetrician who will continue to manage general aspects of pregnancy, and they will coordinate the deliver the baby which will not require our attendance.

What PageMed Specializes In

Transforming Healthcare Delivery

Telemedicine improves access to specialist healthcare for underserved rural areas anywhere in the world. Using communication technology such as video conferencing, teleradiology, and internet correspondence allows for general practitioners to expand their services with remote specialists. This means patients are conveniently serviced at their physician’s office instead of losing time and money away from work for a long commute to a distant specialist.

Benefits of Telemedicine

• Enables more informed decision making and enhanced quality of care.
• Saves lives through remote consultations, whether urgent or diagnostic.
• Creates more efficient, convenient and potentially more cost effective delivery of care.
• Facilitates earlier – and more accurate – diagnoses.
• Allows rural residents to receive expert diagnosis and treatment from distant medical centers.
• Allows for remote educational seminars for other physicians and patients.

You Are Anxious—We Understand

We understand that most people are very anxious when they come to our diagnostic facilities. Whether you are here because you need counseling or have had an abnormal ultrasound elsewhere, please know that we will take the necessary time to perform a comprehensive assessment of you and your fetus. We individualize each assessment and are specific in the information we acquire during your pregnancy evaluation. Our providers will explain the related concerns and will address your questions. Due to the multiple resources that may be required in the evaluation of your pregnancy, our average office visit is two hours or more.
